Courage. Courage is when you stand up for something or someone around is being treated unfairly. In Mildred Taylor’s book, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry the character Stacey has to show courage. Stacey is the oldest Logan child, and feels that he has to be the man of the house because Papa ain't there. The book takes place in the 1930s in the south. The Logan family are African American. T.J. came to the Logan’s house hurt. He tells them that R.W. and Melvin, T.J.’s white “friends” said they would get him anything.
