Rome was a giant and powerful republic and their knowledge is even used today. They met all of their common goods and their common goods were probably the best at the time. One of their best common good was common defense. How their army was structured and what types of equipment the soldiers were given were especially good. Their forts were also very good. Some of their forts could hold up to 6,000 and had stables, barracks, butcher shops, bakeries, and even an administrative office! The smallest group was called a contubernium which had 8 soldiers who marched and shared a tent together. Ten contubernium was called a century even though there were mostly only 80 of the soldiers which were commanded by a centurion, a commander of a century.
