The story of Romeo and Juliet was a very tragic story. Two star-crossed lovers, belonging to feuding families. This feud results in the death of them. It can be shocking, how a beautiful story of how to lovers will go to very high extremes to make sure they are together. What can be more appalling is how much of an impact fate had on this story. The role of fate should up multiple times during the story and in essential parts. These two lovers might not have met if it weren’t for fate. The first example of fate in the play is what really led to the meeting of Romeo and Juliet. One of the Capulet’s serving men just left their household to go extend Capulet’s invitation to his party. The first form of fate in this scene happens when the serving-man, Romeo, and Benvolio, meet while they were walking. In Friar Lawrence’s original plan, that he stated to Juliet, he would have a fellow friar, Friar John, deliver the message to Romeo. This message would inform him that Juliet isn’t really dead, but instead of a deep sleep. It is also said to have instructed him to wait till Juliet wakes and he takes her back to Mantua with him. This letter, however, never reaches Romeo. This is because the home that Friar John inhabits currently was recently quarantine. Meaning, Friar John, wasn’t able to leave the house. Fate played a role in this scene by affecting the timing, and delivery of important info. If Friar John wasn’t quarantined at the time he was still would’ve been able to deliver the letter to Romeo. This would’ve prevented the death of these two lovers. This obstacle, on paper, might’ve appeared small, but in reality was the main cause of the confusion of information causing the death of Romeo and
