Romeo and Juliet is an iconic love story that still resonates with many readers today. In the tragic play Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, a Montague named Romeo falls in love with a Capulet named Juliet in Verona, Italy. However, both are from two families, the Montagues and the Capulets, who are feuding which causes their self-inflicted deaths. In the end, Romeo is the most responsible for the tragic death of Juliet. In the beginning, Romeo attends a party in which he was an uninvited and hostile guest. He attends the party for the sole reason of meeting Rosaline, his love at the time. However, he finds Juliet and they make love. His attendance at the party disrespected the Capulets and angered Tybalt which escalated the conflict between the two families (Act 1). Romeo also obtained a poison potion and unfortunately killed himself while consoling over the loss of his Juliet (Acts 3-5). Others may argue that Friar Lawrence is most at fault because he secretly arranged the marriage of Romeo and Juliet, created a plan to bring Romeo and Juliet together after Romeo was exiled, and left Juliet alone with Romeo’s dagger (Acts 2-5). However, Romeo started this whole mess and actually was the reason why Juliet killed herself with his dagger. He attended a party where he was uninvited and disrespected the Capulets which escalated into violence (Act 1). In addition, he killed Tybalt and was exiled, causing Juliet to be extremely traumatized (Acts 3-4). Finally, he obtained poison and killed himself. His self-inflicted death was the ultimate reason why Juliet killed herself with his dagger
