The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a well-known play about two young lovers who take their lives so that they can be together, but were there people who drove them to their ends? Surely there had to be, and characters such as The Nurse, Lord Capulet, and Paris should be blamed for their dramatic deaths, but the characters of Friar Lawrence, Friar John, and The Prince should be pardoned. Being one of the characters that had a substantial part in Romeo and Juliet's marriage, The Nurse made a big mistake and let Juliet down. When Juliet asked for comfort from The Nurse after her father told her she had to marry Paris on Thursday, The Nurse responded by saying, “I think you are happy in this second match, for it excels your first; or if it did not, your first is dead-or ‘twere as good he were as living here and you no use of him.” (3.4.224-227) Because The Nurse told Juliet she should marry Paris since Romeo is banished, she pushed Juliet to think more about taking extreme measures. …show more content…
