Some people say it was Aeneas, but most will tell you it was the twin brothers Romulus and Remus. Rome was founded when the legendary king named Romulus decided to found a city. Romulus wanted to found it on the Palatine hill, but Remus wanted to build the city on aventine hill. Romulus started building a wall on palatine hill, and Remus jumped over it to prove how easy is would be to attack. Romulus got really mad, and killed his brother. With his brother dead, Romulus continued building his city. The city of Rome was officially founded on April 21, 753 BC, and Romulus named the city after himself. But he was still missing one thing. You can't have a city without people. Most of rome's newest people were mostly criminals, or unwanted men from other towns. Romulus encouraged people to come and work for him. He stole Sabine women to populate the city. Many other civilizations thought that rome's growing power would become a threat. But nobody really knew how big it could get in the future. Rome was built by a king that will always be remembered for founding one of the most powerful civilizations in all of human history.
