If you don’t already know, cyberbullying is harassment and bullying through the use of technology. Along with technology constantly improving, cyberbullying is rapidly taking the lead for being the most common way to see bullying. “Over 60% of children and 40% of adults have experienced cyberbullying at least once.”(Howard) With the use of technology to bully someone, it offers anonymity to users, making it difficult to avoid or resolve. “Bullies can hide behind fake profiles or usernames, making it difficult for victims to identify and confront them.”(Paulyn) Cyberbullying can also become difficult to prevent due to users having access to the internet 24/7 since you don’t need to be face to face. The majority of cyberbully victims and cyberbullies range from the ages of 12 to 17 (Patchin). According to these statistics, the majority of people who have been bullied online and the bullies themselves are both still attending school. Schools have the opportunity to have a huge impact on this topic, and it is surprising that schools participate as little as they do. It would be very beneficial for schools to have a program or class available to take offering information about cyberbullying, what to do if you encounter it, and how to prevent it from happening all together. The class is a semester long class consisting of 4 units. Starting off the class, our first unit will be learning about what cyberbullying is. The second semester will consist of steps on how to identify and prevent cyberbullying, which will lead to the third unit where students will learn steps on how to handle cyberbullying and possible consequences for victims and
