Over the years technology has played a tremendous role in society in terms of development and social interaction through communication and connecting people worldwide. One of the various and most common aspect is social media. In today's society, various issues have been arising from the continuous use of social media and modification. Recently, many researchers and writers have argued that social media is causing society to be disconnected rather than connecting. The irony here automatically creates a decline in momentum for her readers thereby making her audience to be relaxed about the issue. She further made a statement assuming her readers have also experienced the same situation. However, the use of assumption here does not provide a logical support for her claim rather the writer should have used research findings to back up her statement. It is actually possible that some of her audience do not see themselves in this assumption although recent studies found out that 3 out 5 adults in the United states have one social media account and the most common is Facebook. However, she did not provide evidence to support this statement, and for her to compare todays communication to back then, expecting her audience to be on the same page with her is not a strong plus for her claim. Especially stating that back then, one couldn't run an errand while they talked on the phone. This is not a preference that her entire audience would prefer, not when both pros and cons of social media can be relative depending on the issue being discussed. In closing her article, Henke drove her readers back to the main question - "again, I wonder what is so social about social media?" this question actually brings her audience back to where they started from.
