According to the business dictionary, a legacy system is an: “Obsolete computer system that may still be in use because its data cannot be changed to newer or standard formats, or its application programs cannot be upgraded” (Business Dictionary , 2017). Now, that we know what a legacy system is how can it limit the ability of an organization to adopt a new SOA. The current organization, which I work at just recently replaced a legacy system. The System they replaced was the old time and attendance AS400 system with the new KRONOS timekeeping system. There were some issues with transferring data from the old system to the new system. Now how can these three principles be applied in the world of web 2.0?
First, we shall look at (1) Respect the social and power structure of the organization. We can look at the Facebook for this guiding principle. Facebook provides a web 2.0 surface for an organization to project an image of itself for the public to view and follow. Thus, it shows that the organization has a social presence and power structure in place.
The second was (2) Pursue uniformity on the outside while allowing diversity on the inside, which means that an organization needs to project a uniform front for the public to see and allow diversity to grow. Thus, the organization will be able to be a leading developer in the area which it specializes in because it allowed diversity to grow, which leads to better cohesion and
