Mission Statement: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. It’s message is based on the bible. It’s ministry is motivated by the love of God. It’s mission is the preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in his name without discrimination (Red Shild Services, 2017) OVERVIEW: The Salvation Army Red Shield is a Christian organization that provides temporary shelter and transitional housing to many populations in need. They offer the following programs: Cold Weather Program, Dorm Monitor Housing, Emergency Assessment Housing, Re-entry Housing, Supportive Emergency Housing, Dekalb/Fulton County Program, Family Emergency Housing, Harbor Light Drug Treatment Program, Savings Program, Veterans on the Move Program: Mental Health or Bridge Housing (non-substance abuse), Aftercare Program, Special Needs Program, and a Food Pantry: Community Distribution Program. …show more content…

Funding for services are through fund rasing or public/private donations. PROPOSAL: Currently, the Salvation Army Red Shield houses approximately three hundred and eighty four indivdials at this location. The population is very diverse and inclusive. You may see homeless single men, women, families, children, veterans, disabled individuals, individuals with a substance abuse problem, transgenered individuals, and many more. Unforunately, the shelter has been experiencing an infestation of bed bugs. The maintanence staff has sprayed the beds numerous times to kill the bugs but its only a temporary solution. The only way to destroy the infestation is to expose the beg bugs to extreme heat conditions. This purposal will determine three immediate needs, they include the
