In conclusion Teens are interesting years of every human's life.
In Peggy Orenstein's “I Tweet, Therefore I Am” she explains that social media is taking over our lives and pulling us further apart. She argues that we lose our identity on social media because we worry about how others see us. Although Orenstein describes the negative effects of social media, not all technology and media accounts affect us in this way. Social media and technology is causing us to lose physical and personal connections with humans. Social media “encourages self-promotion over self-awareness”
The graphs show what kind of effect social media might have on teens worldwide. In conclusion, the authors have given examples of
I won’t deny that social media can have negative impacts on the youth especially since it is such a vital developmental period of their life (2). Levin makes it clear by saying, “Documents also pointed to potential links between regular social media use and depression, self-harm and, to some extent, even suicide” (Levin) (1). But the author fails to acknowledge that social media is useful outside of socialization (2). Social media is a core part of how the younger generation obtains news and information (3). Things online spread fast which causes serious topics to go viral (3).
In the article, “Teenage Social Media Butterflies May Not Be Such a Bad Idea,” the author, Melissa Healy, claims that social media is rather beneficial than harmful to teenagers. According to researches that were included in the article, using social media is an activity that helps teenagers in many ways, and parents should worry about their kids using it. Youngsters who use social media are the healthiest psychologically and may be more well-adjusted as well. Also, using social media assists children in their development of emotional bonds, their own identities, and social skills. Additionally, the effect of social media is dependent on the user, so whether social media is a good or bad thing depends on how each children use it.
Adolescents believe that their actions are normal and socially acceptable. According to a survey, 81% of teenagers said that they believe others cyberbully because they think it’s funny. This can be supported by source 1 as we can see in the comments that the adolescents are making a joke out of the hate status by saying “she even had glasses lol” and “LOL whata nrd”. On the other hand, social media can have positive impacts on the opinions/views of adolescents. Social media removes interaction/communication barriers which allows users to reflect, provide real life examples, develop a supportive stimulating community, form discussions that can lead to an increase in incidental learning
Some people may say that social media has more positives than negatives, and others may say the opposite. In this essay I will be talking about why I believe social media has a major negative effect on people. Social media is actively used by many people around the world, especially teens. Social media can be used to share your ideas with others, gain information, and as a source of entertainment. But, it can also have negative effects, leading to insecurities, bullying, threats, and even harm.
For instance, Zimmerman writes that “ Although 32 percent of American teens say that they have been contacted on the Net by someone they don’t know, according to the Pew Research Center, just 7 percent report feeling “scared or uncomfortable” as a result” (488). Put simply, teenagers know the dangers of online networking sites, but they are smart enough to know that they can take precautions to protect themselves and are not as naive as some adults may think. He counters the opposing perspective by arguing that teenagers are capable of making informed decisions about their online behavior and that they should be trusted to do so rather than being overly restricted or monitored by adults. He states that teenagers are capable of making their own decisions on whether they want to stay on social media or not, and he gives an example of a group of teens who have already made progress by creating an online movement against social networking sites. By acknowledging that there are multiple sides to his argument, Zimmerman shows that he has considered the issue from different perspectives and is open to discussion and compromise, which proves the effectiveness of his essay
Teens use social media apps like twitter, Facebook, Instagram, kik, and snapchat just to show off to their friends and what I don’t understand is why you would use social media to show off when you can do other things to show off like get good grades on your test, quiz’s, report cards, and progress reports. By using social media teens are becoming depressed and angry and even commenting suicide all because of cyber bullies on internet and social media sites like Facebook, kik, snapchat, Instagram, Myspace, and twitter. Also its not only teens that’s get cyber bullied some celebrities get cyber bullied to like Tamera Mowry-Housley when she tweeted about her political view she got attacked by all of her followers. Mostly it’s the teens that are getting bullied not that many people or celebrities are getting bully . Bullying takes place everyday some where in the Us mostly in school
This piece of evidence highlights how social media is impacting the way young people perceive themselves and present themselves to others. Social Media also shows the lack of empathy the users have for others. For instance, on page 449, the author says, “Felicia did not stint on comments about other girls, even though she herself had been branded a slut in eighth grade by classmates who were jealous of the boy she was dating.” Even after having gone through similar things, social media users will still treat others badly online, which goes to show the lack of
As a society, we are all guilty of the empowerment that social media has on us. We've gotten used to our social media being the source of everything, whether it be the latest news or gossip. As stated in the article and according to a survey by Common Sense Media, “Almost 40 percent of American children ages 8 to 12 use social media” (Levin, 1). Social media

Today we have put our trust on the media as a priority to give us entertainment, news, and education. There are some positive and negative that influence young people of our society when it comes to media. The positive things kids like to express are their self with is the social world with apps like instagram, snapchat, twitter, and facebook which allows them to take pictures, share photos, or even just chat with someone. Although people like to use social media for fun there is also a negative side to it. For instance, some kids tend to abuse the use of media by bullying others online which goes by cyberbullying, that can result in kids getting their feelings hurt or even trying to harm themselves because of what other said too or about them.

Some teenagers are having sex. Some teenagers start working during this time. Some teenagers later in adolescences start college application and prepare for graduations. I believe that the adolescence stage covers so much and is a huge transition. I decided to talk about several important changes
