Samuel Noah Kramer was an expert in the Sumerian language and in Sumerian History. Samuel believed that history began at Sumer in 3300 BCE because of the discovery of the Sumerians tablets. The Sumerians were the first major civilization to settle in the area. They spoke a Non-Semitic language unlike the other groups, which were more Semitic. The groups that were Semitic were the Hebrews. We knew the type of language that they spoke because of the tablets that we discovered. Everything that we knew from the Sumerians was not just by archeologist findings but it was from their writing on the tablets. Alexander had an idea to conquer the enormous Persian Empire. Some of the tactics Alexander used to facilitate his conquest of Persia and Egypt was adapting and adopting other cultures. Alexander did not have a big army at first and did not have that much money. However this did not stop him from having a big conquest. Alexander began his conquest on Troy. This is where he began to adapt and adopt different cultures. He adopted the Troy culture by sacrificing animals and would tell the people of Troy that he was the “New Greek Achilles.” Achilles was one of the greatest hero’s in the Greek legend. By telling the Greek people that he was the “New Greek Achilles,” he showed them that he was one of them. He wanted to prove to them that he was not just a barbarian from the north. He slowly began to conquer other areas so that he would be able to get more money and more troops. During the first two years of the war he conquered Asia Minor, Palestine Assyria and Egypt. Egypt had thought of him as a god after the pharaoh and him declared himself as “Zeus Smith.” He won over the Egyptians by becoming a Pharaoh. He continued his conquest and by 334 B.C, he conquered Babylon. The Persian army was unable to stop Alexander’s army. The Persian army figured that if they cant beat him, join him. That’s exactly what they did. After conquering Persia Alexander adopter Persian dress, Persian weapons, and Persian practice by having to bow down before them and touching peoples foreheads to the ground. Each area Alexander conquered he took and adopted there culture and it worked perfectly for him. By 324 B.C where he wanted to merge the Greek and Persian Empire. He made some of his men to marry the Persian women and start families and Alexander even married a Persian women. People were allowed to keep their political organization, languages and cultures. He
