Black lives matter. The contemporary movement started in 2013 campaigns against the brutality, prejudice, and racism experienced by the African American community in America. The activist group works to unite African Americans in one common message: they will be heard and they will not be invisible. However, this idea of invisibility has been prevalent in African-American history since the Middle Passage. African Americans have continually felt forcibly unnoticed in society, played with as toys for entertainment and productivity purposes only.

After three years of this movement spreading, racial tensions are still extremely high all around the world especially in the US. “Just since election day there have been over fifty anti-black racial disputes” (Hatewatch.) Since the murder of Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown the Black Lives Matter campaign started and on election day around three to four years after the campaign had started within the space of three to four months there was fifty anti-black racial disputes. On the chart where I had picked up this information “anti-black disputes were towering over all the other racial disputes that had occurred” (Hatewatch.) It comes to show how people don’t believe black lives matter as much as other lives really proving the truth behind this movement.
The mission statement for All Lives Matter has to do with the fact that everyone has a right no matter what stage of life they are in, what social or economic class they belong to or what race, religion or gender they are. This movement shows that blacks cannot and will not be silenced by those who have the least bit of prejudice in their hearts. It shows that after all black people have experienced with segregation, slavery,racism, brutality, inequality, and more they still manage to overcome it all.
