Black lives matter. The contemporary movement started in 2013 campaigns against the brutality, prejudice, and racism experienced by the African American community in America. The activist group works to unite African Americans in one common message: they will be heard and they will not be invisible. However, this idea of invisibility has been prevalent in African-American history since the Middle Passage. After three years of this movement spreading, racial tensions are still extremely high all around the world especially in the US. “Just since election day there have been over fifty anti-black racial disputes” (Hatewatch.) Since the murder of Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown the Black Lives Matter campaign started and on election day around three to four years after the campaign had started within the space of three to four months there was fifty anti-black racial disputes. On the chart where I had picked up this information “anti-black disputes were towering over all the other racial disputes that had occurred” (Hatewatch.)
