Human Trafficking
Human trafficking has become the second biggest crime all over the world. It is a crime that takes advantage of humans through human trade, slavery, sexual activities and forced labor. Human trafficking in today’s world, is considered “modern day slavery”; the trade of humans into forced labor or exploitation, meaning into prostitution or other forms of sexual related things. These people are not given a choice but to do what they are told to do. It is usually women and children who are in poverty that fall into human trafficking. Due to their social class, many of the women are not educated nor employed which leads them to making the choice of which they believe is their solution to hope. They make the decision to sell their bodies for money. These people are treated with no respect and their dignity is stripped from them and sold like objects. Majority of the time these victims are kidnapped, raped and drugged and moved to another country to be used as sex slaves. Not only are they being physically abused but mentally and emotionally abused because of all the trauma they are experiencing. This is where France comes to play. In France, human trafficking still remains legal and that is why France is one of the destinations and transition for women and children being sold into sex slavery. This happens all over the world, we just are not aware of it. According to research, about 600,000-800,000 people are trafficked across international boarders. 80% of them are women and children. Many think it happens only in places with a lot of poverty, but that is not the case. Sex slavery happens anywhere, the places we least expect it.
