Thank you for a wonderful semester! This memorandum serves a purpose: to critically reflect upon my own growth and awareness as a writer. I believe this course provided me with different tools that I know will always be helpful to me in the business world. Every assignment had a purpose to it, other than completing it for a grade we gained skills that will help us business students stand out to others in this competitive workforce.
This advanced writing and communication prepared me undoubtably for my following courses and the real world. In this course, we learned about the basics of communicating and writing in all business atmospheres, where we were expected to refine our writing, research, and presentation knowledge. All the feedback provided by the instructor was constructive and provided us with a different point of view to our own work, allowing us to polish our work to the best of our abilities.
Accomplishment of Goals
Considering my initial goals for this course were to expand my writing skills, as it has never been my strongest suit I feel like I improved. I am aware that cultivating my writing and public speaking abilities is an effective communication skill for me to advance in the business world. I had heard of cover letters before but was not by any means ever required to write one. Making sure that your cover letter uses key words that may be included in the desired job descriptions posting is complementary. Lastly, the formal report was the biggest project in this class, the one that I feared the most. I found it valuable that we took time to create our reports step by step to avoid confusion and errors. Before even starting our own reports, we had to submit a proposal with planned out key points that we would focus on, so our instructor could give us feedback on our
