Thousands and millions of people have taken to the streets in Brazil, to protest against corruption and the government. The population are united in admiration for the judge Sergio Moro, responsible for the decisions of “Lava Jato” Operation. For a large part of the population, Moro, from the 13th Federal Court of Paraná, is a national hero. But why he have became so important to brazilian people? What influence he has exerted in the people?
Sergio Moro graduated in law from the State University of Maringa in 1995, becoming federal judge in 1996. He also attended the instruction to program for lawyers at Harvard Law School in 1998 and participated in study programs on money laundering, promoted by the State Department of United States. Moro was tooke to the center of the Brazilian political crisis for doing in the “Lava Jato” Operation something unprecedented: to investigate, arrest and convict a large number of businessmen and powerful politicians. He challenged the logic consolidated in Brazil that those who have resources or power can escape from the law. People are annoyed and angry with so much corruption. It overwhelms their life. Sergio Moro appeared as a simple and fair judge who wants only to fulfill his duty. He brought new hope and good expectations for the Brazilian people through Lava Jato Operation. People started believe that Brazil can change, they are more united. Because of Moro, millions of people went out to streets, many times to protest their dissatisfaction with their governors, and to ask for changes the country. After that changes started to happen.
Sergio Moro has one of the most important qualities that a judge need to have to be a good leader. He has integrity. No politicians, no millionaire businessman has influenced his decisions. He do what has to be done, because he knows that it is the right thing, no matter what people might thing. His leaded by his values.
