Shakespeare an English play right, actor and poet with his writings makes us pause and think. In high school many are supposed to be taught proper writing, reading and communication skills. Have you ever read Shakespeare’s writing?, It’s not the easiest to understand, but it does make you stop and think. When reading Romeo and Juliet in class I struggled with the plot and what he was trying to say. Shakespeare’s writing is not from modern times it throws you back in time and it’s difficult to understand. It also doesn’t teach us any lessons besides learning the past which isn’t helpful today. Therefore I don’t think Shakespeare should be taught in high school. It’s easier to learn from something you understand, Shakespeare’s writing makes it difficult to do so. To learn and prepare for their future as adults. The past is the past, you make mistakes, learn from then and move on to whats in the future. Shakespeare’s writing mainly focuses on everything that happened long ago, the language, ways women and men were treated, some of his writing is fiction stuff he makes up. In highschool students should be taught about what they should be looking forward to in the future and the world around us today. A high school english teacher Dana Dusbiber states that, “Shakespeare play will make my students less able to go out into the world and understand language or human behavior.” Learning about the past and fictional made up stories/plays from Shakespeare are not gonna benefit highschool students. The last four years of highschool set up each student’s future based off what they are taught and their capability to work, listen and understand.
