Short Biography: Theodor Seuss Geisel

On March 2, 1904, in Springfield, Massachusetts, a baby by the name Theodor Seuss Geisel was brought into this world. Little did he know he had a very important future planned ahead him. At the age of 18, Theodor attended the college of Dartmouth, where he continued his love for humor by becoming the editor the humor magazine. After finishing his time at Dartmouth, he attended Oxford University in England. During his time at Oxford, he met his future wife. In 1927, the two got married, Theodor dropped out of college, and the couple moved back to the United States. Upon returning to America, Theodor decided to pursue cartooning full-time. His cartoons were featured in many magazines. A cartoon that he published in 1927 was the first time he signed “Dr. Seuss” on his work. This was a milestone in Theodor’s life, as he would sign his name like that on the rest of work. Many things were running through his mind, but eventually all thoughts of taking his life seemed to vacate. He stated multiple sketches. At first he had nothing, but he began to create what he felt would be a hit. After he finished, he had finished a book named “The Cat in The Hat,” signed “Dr. Seuss,” and contacted the publisher. The book was about two kids that were really bored on a rainy day. As that day progressed, the Cat in the Hat came to them and played games with them. He entertained them and kept them occupied on the rainy day. The Cat in the Hat brought in his two friends to play: Thing 1 and Thing 2. There was a pet fish that disapproved of the whole operation. In the book Theodor wrote “but our fish said, 'no!
