Should 16 and 17 - year old citizens be allowed to vote? One can say that being 16 and 17 years old gives you the right to vote just as the ones that are 18 since is during the process of matureness and kids going to high school and learning more about our country. However, there hasn’t really been a crowd of students or a school protesting on how the country should lower down the voting age and that’s why there has been nothing done because it shows that if they really cared about voting then they would do something about it. For instance, not even 18 years old pay attention to voting since that’s when “many of them are in the midst of leaving their childhood homes. As you get more disrupted in your life, the less likely you are to vote.” (Shin) That’s one of the main reasons why there is more elders voting than 18 years old, because some don’t even have the time to vote or just don’t care, and that’s just how it would be with 16 and 17 year olds since they have to keep up with grades in high school, and would be enjoying their childhood with their friends.
