The amount of cigarettes being bought and sold have gone down significantly in the past decade. As it tells us in the article, “Rise Is Seen in Students Who Use E-Cigarettes”, By Sabrina Taver, students seem more interested and more prone to using an E-Cigarette which is a battery powered cigarette, except E-Cigarette deliver nicotine that is vaporized to form an aerosol mist. The makers and developers claim that they are a healthy way of smoking. Yet all this great stuff has been said about the E-cigs, researchers still say that they are vile and the health effects are not yet clear, although they are proven to be less harmful than traditional cigarettes. It continues to grow throughout America though, especially in high schools and middle schools. Kids these days are smoking many different things because as smoking cigarettes and cigars get older, smoking and tobacco companies are coming up with with “Healthier and safer products”. This draws kids into a life of drug abusing. The amount of kids that at least tried smoking doubled from 2011 to 2012. The thing in the E-Cigs that make it so “cool” and addicting is the Nicotine. Nicotine is a chemical in which can get you hooked on to cigarettes. With nicotine it takes 10 seconds after you inhale it for it to absorb into your skin. Whenever people who smoke cigarettes the nicotine sets in and when they are stressed or in a bad mood they usually turn straight to smoking. After plenty of years of smoking it eventually will take over your brain. Some people smoke nicotine to pacify their self. Make them calm down and relax. Many teens still will smoke today and some of that is due to peer pressure. Teens today are pressured into smoking by their friends and people around them. Also, many teens think that it’s cool to smoke because they see other people doing it. Although smoking is illegal under the age of 18, many teens start smoking as young as 11 or 12 years old. Any students also try smoking when they get to high school because lots of people are keep suggesting that they do it too. Many teens who have parents or family who smoke will also start to smoke most likely because either think if their parents are doing it or if their family is doing it, then it must be good and ok for me to smoke as well.

In Conclusion, Smoking is still a problem among teenagers, and unfortunately there have not been many successful avenues to prevent it. There has been many attempts but not a whole lot has succeeded.
