There are many movies that have been argued about if they are appropriate for kids. The Avatar Movie has been
“Devin raised his right arm and focused directly over his wrist. It took less than a millisecond to calculate the trajectory---he didn’t have a built-in computer, but 220 IQ served him well”(Patterson 3). In the beginning of the book, this person has a sniper grafted into his arm and is supposed to take out its targets. While this is happening the one bird kid falls down to save the other bird kid from getting hit, but Devin misses the main target and hits the flying dog. What ends up happening is devin kills himself because he was a suicide sniper(kills his target then kills himself to not be in trouble).
In Gary Soto’s autobiographical piece “Black Hair,” he portrays a feeling of alienation. He describes a feeling of disconnection towards both his Hispanic coworkers, due to his language barrier, and feeling apart from the middle class family due he rented a room with, due to socio-economic status. Like Soto, I had a period in my life where I felt alienated from the environment I was in. My particular experience with this feeling of isolation took place in middle school, involving a group of girls that I had been friends with since Kindergarten. I had been glued to the hip with these girls since we were still wearing diapers, tapping away in our tap shoes at our dance classes together.
The website says that “Generally, it is not appropriate for parents to bring their young children with them to R-rated motion pictures”. How exactly do they determine what is 'appropriate' for you? If a movie receives an NC-17 rating, movie theaters will not allow anyone under 18 to see it, even with an adult. What makes NC-17 so terrible? The MPAA says that NC-17 rated films contain “element[s] that most parents would consider too strong and therefore off-limits for viewing by their children”.
Along with swearing, there were one or two adult jokes. Realistically, even classic Disney movies have those to keep the parents entertained as well. While it’s first priority is to appeal to its target audience of kids, the entertainment range is undoubtedly all
This seems to indicate the importance of understanding the complexity of raising children. The contradiction of being a parent and wanting to allow a movie to raise children is something that should be looked at
Disney Company is notoriously known for making revolutionary cartoon movies that always gets the kid’s attention and win their hearts. The vast majority of their movie are targeting kids, kids under the age of 15, who are unbeknownst to the hidden messages about the movie(s) they’re watching. For example, The Disney film Sleeping Beauty, the main character Aurora was cursed to be sleeping forever by an evil witch. And Prince Phillip is bound to kiss her for a “true love’s kiss” and wakes up. It is pretty evident at the ending that the prince kissed Aurora without consent and she had no idea that it was going to happen for she was asleep.
Blasphemy! How can parents possibly choose to make their children watch Disney movies? Disney movies have been a part of millions of people’s childhood. All the adventurous stories, “innocent roles”, and happy endings may seem harmless, but they are affecting the audience’s mind by sending the wrong message. Disney movies are negative for the viewers, and aren’t beneficial to children because they represent historical inaccuracies, send subliminal messages, and promote sexual activities.
Should the Driving Age Be Raised to 18? I take the position that the driving age should not be raised to 18. Many people believe that 16 year olds are too young to drive. However, many 16 to 17 year olds and their families disagree. Teens enjoy their freedom, and not all teens are stereotypically “wild” or “out of hand” on the road.
While most rated R films, 18 and 19 year olds can watch, I believe those should be raised to at least 21 years of age. I do understand that raising the age may make it harder for teens to have access to the movies, if they are going to watch a violent film, nothing is going to stop them. With the access of media right at the tip of your fingers, teens can get into any site, pretend to be of any age, and view the violent film. However, I do believe that there should not even be commercials promoting films, TV shows or any other avenue that displays violence.
Driving today is a major accomplishment, and many people use that license as a badge of honor. In today's society, people as young as sixteen are eligible to apply for a driver's license. But, is that necessarily a horrid thing. There are many people who attempt to rob adolescents of their ability to receive a license. I believe that sixteen year olds should be able to keep their driving privileges because you must learn at a young age, it teaches adolescents responsibility, and it makes it easier for teens to maintain a career.
These days, children have full access to the internet and are exposed to many things considered “inappropriate”. With children being this exposed there is no longer that many awkward moments when the child stumbles upon something “inappropriate”, like an R-rated movie, so the age group of the rating should be a little more lenient. With all this technology children are also able to pirate R-rated movies so there is no point in trying to keep them out of theatres with the same movie. Even if the movie is R-rated in the theater, children sneak in anyway and nobody does anything about it.
Although the actors do sometimes say foul words, most teenagers may have heard them before. This is not a good influence, but it is something people say on a daily basis. This movie is PG-13 because of the foul language and other factors. It is a movie where teenagers can watch it because in the society of today, many of the events in White Chicks occur in reality. There will be times when a teenager is out and they hear some of these words, but the parents of the teenagers will not write a bad review on that person.
After all, it will only add to the total loss of life from the various errors performed by sixteen-year-old kids. It is unseemingly to keep something that has time and time proved itself to be appalling. It is for this reason that eighteen should be the age at which adolescents are given cars. The legal driving age should be raised to eighteen because it will keep the streets safer, drivers will be more mature, and it is foolish to oppose this indubitable truth.
Because of safety concerns, many states have increased the age at which teens can begin to drive. Teens need to have their own experiences. Driving at sixteen is a great way for teens to indulge in experiences and start a more independent life. The driving age should not be raised because driving gives one freedom, driving allows teens to work, and driving teaches responsibility.
