In my research I was able to find that some teachers in the educational system have racist views towards children of color. These teachers discriminate against in various ways, from labeling with low cognitive thinking to thinking they are “superior” to them because of their whiteness. Minority children are affected by the behaviors of these teachers. While at school their academic studies are jeopardized when these students feel that the teacher does not want them in their class. I studied how the general public feels about these racist teachers being in the educational system. My main research question is: Should racist teachers be allowed to teach minority children in the educational system? Minority students are suspended and punished at a high rate than their white peers. I think that race plays a significant part in the teachers and administrators actions toward these students. The literature that I have read confirms that some teachers do have racist views toward students. I think that sometimes these teachers may punish children based on their race. They have admitted that there is a sense of superiority towards the children based on skin color. These can also spill over into the culture of the students. Some teachers said that they do not understand or like other cultures besides their own. This issue is very serious for the educational system in this country. People in the general population have opinions also if these teachers should continue to teach in the schools.
