McKensie Erickson Mrs.Valli Honors Freshman English 12 April 2023 Inside the mind of a Teenage Taking a deeper look inside the minds of Romeo and Juliet, and teenagers in general, to see how young minds work, how it contributes to our actions, and the consequences! Two young lovers in Verona, Romeo and Juliet, come together and in consequence their deaths. This is the result of their strong, indigenous love for one another, and how their young minds had a part in this outcome. The brain science behind Romeo and Juliet comes down to the development of the young mind, decision making, and chemical factors. Moreover, the development of the young mind is a core result of how their brain reacts to life, and the world around us as a whole. “Most …show more content…

As presented in the play Romeo and Juliet, “Deny thy father, and refuse thy name, Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I’ll no longer be a capulet”(Shakespear, William, Romeo and Juliet, 1591-1596). As Shakespear verified here, without even having to mention the scientific side to this. It shows how the relay system works, by telling Juliet to completely renounce her name to be with her love. There are so many scientific reasons why the average teen acts the way they do, but with the way the relay system works in our brains, and with the constant communication between the chemicals in our brain, or Neurotransmitters, they happen to get mixed up sometimes. In the New York Times it summarizes, “In synaptic pruning, synapses not used very often are removed, allowing the brain to redirect precious resources toward active synapses. This important pruning process molds the brain in response to a person’s experiences and activities''( New York Times 2008, p. C). This quote gives a clear response to how all of the chemicals in a brain work together to produce the decisions made by teens, and how they cooperate with the people around them. No matter the task at hand, whether relaxing, or stressful. The brain is constantly on the go. The chemicals in a teen’s brain are being rushed even more. This is one of the many explanations for why teens’ seem to be all over the place, and scattered at times. All in all our brain is complicated, even to this day scientists are discovering new facts about our brains, but even knowing everything it is true that no matter what age love is just as strong in young people as it is in older people. They just feel more deeply due to the chemicals in their
