John smith and Pocahontas and also the founding of jamestown and also virginia settlement. This movie is directed by terrence malick. He is known for movies like badlands and days of heaven. This movie was made in 2005. The cast consisted of very well know faces in the industry such as Colin Farrell who played captain john smith, Q'orianka Kilcher who played Pocahontas, Christopher Plummer as Captain Newport and many other people. The new world in based on many historical events which occurred. This movie was nominated for oscars for its cinematography. The Plot -
This movie is based on few of the real events which occurred during the founding of jamestown and virginia settlement and also the love story of john smith and pocahontas. This story is placed in the early 1600’s. The english mens were in search of a new land and so they had a ship in which they started their journey to find a new land. Captain john smith was gonna get hanged to death but just before he was gonna be hanged captain newport spared him. This was in virginia in 1607. They founded jamestown. In the movie john smiths character is played by colin farell who is seen wearing tatoos. The film is based on 1600 time period and tattoing was prohibited in england at that time and maybe they didn’t even had the ink to tatoo likr that. And also in the scene when pocahontas gets food for everyone she is seen wearing a big coat wihich is made up of axis deer and there was no way it would be in america in 1600’s because it was only found in the south asia.
