Phineas Gage was a road worker that got a tamping iron into his head. Phineas is like an adolescent because he doesn’t act like he should and the same goes for adolescents. Phineas’ brain is similar and different from an adolescent because they both don’t make great decisions that their brain tells them to do, but Phineas doesn’t act normal than what he used to be whereas adolescents act normal because many adolescents do the things adolescents do. Phineas and adolescents also have similar and different behaviors because they both do things they aren’t supposed to, but adolescents risk their lives for rewards and all Phineas does is that he cusses at women. Phineas’ brain is similar to adolescent brains because everyone has the same brain parts. In the text it says, “… frontal lobes, passing through the middle, where the two hemispheres face…” (paragraph 12). This shows some of the brain that everyone has. Phineas’ brain is developed, but adolescent brains are developing. In the text it says, “Smoking, binge- drinking, experimenting with drugs, unsafe sex, dangerous driving- all are more common in adolescents…” (paragraph 1). In the text it says, “Society stereotypes adolescents, and particular adolescent boys, as reckless risk- takers.” (paragraph 1). People shouldn’t stereotype adolescents because not all of them take risks. Adolescents take death- defying risks, whereas Phineas just acts rude to others. In the text it says, “… adolescents do take risks…” (paragraph 1). No one should underestimate adolescents because they do dangerous things without getting killed. Adolescents in the future will probably still do those things and so will the generations after them until the end of the
