As Hassan and Hussain states in their article communication is the key for a successful leadership in the military and I believe that this is true for private sector business as well. (Hassan, 2015) With this principle in mind I will plan to have weekly status meetings with my supervisors to insure they are all on the same page. From there they can disseminate the same message to all of their employees. Clear, concise, and consistent communication is what is needed to run a group of people to try to be sure the organizational goals are met.
The second improvement that I would recommend is to design and implement a system of recognition for employees who hit their goals. Goal setting is another key to successful leadership as explained by Blanchard and Hersey. (Blanchard, n.d.) A system of recognition and rewards give a feeling to the employee that their job and their performance is important to the management of the company. I feel that rewards are very important to recognize that someone has achieved to a level consistent with organizational performance standards and goals that have been set for them. In a Situational Leadership model lean is a very important concept as explained by Goodridge, etal. (Donna Goodridge, 2015) Lean take individual processes, examines them, and finds areas that contain waste that can be eliminated. Consistency in processes is critical in Situational leadership and Lean Process improvement is a tool that can be used to find the waste in a process and eliminate it. By running a Lean project, I would expect to use the first line employees to identify improvement areas and how to make improvements to bolster the process. The first line employee will have ownership in the project and will work hard to make sure the project will be successful. (Donna Goodridge,
