Introduction
As technology advances, it is going to create a new challenge for individuals. An advantage of this progression is that it can solve massive issues, whether regarding to health, communication, or other fields to help communities live longer and more effectively. The role of social media and other technological advancements in organizations are important as an instrumental tool to provide communication throughout the workplace, to employees and to external members, in their personal and social lives. Near the end of 2013, Snapchat strategically rejected a $3 billion cash offer from Facebook to acquire the startup (SnapChat, 2017). With their plan of not wanting to fail to the competition, the organization continued to create new developments within the application, and strategically communicated within the organization to create the best app possible.
By the end of 2014, the app has over 500 million users and became a medium for paid advertisements, allowing the company to make more profit. In 2015, being that Snapchat is deemed as one of the hottest social media platforms, magazine brands, and journals began to get involved. Snapchat introduced the Discover feature, which allowed users to view news stories or celebrity stories. Though this accusation is being denied, reversing what is already in the public news is hard to do. This accusation comes from the same lawsuit previously mentioned, the ex-employee claims the CEO said this, so either there was miscommunication or the CEO did not communicate effectively. According to Anderson (2016), one misplaced quote, or badly worded newsletter will not only ruin an expensive external communications plan, but also has the potential to affect corporate revenue.
