Snapchat is an imaging and social media network which works on an all Android, and iOS mobile networks with up to twenty languages available. Currently, there are one hundred and fifty eight million people who are using the service. With such a huge subscriber base, the app is shaping the way in which young people communicate. There are positive and negative effects of using imaging and multi-media platform (Handyside et al.). The evaluation criterion focuses on sex, privacy, relationships, and self-esteem.
On the matter of sex, the social media app leads the way in the sexting, a new way of sharing consensual and intimate photos. These photos range from the seedy adult activities to the stigmatized. The sexting culture has an emotional consequence in the minds of young people. There are younger adults than the legal age who have access to pornography, putting them on the collision course with the law. For instance, the audio – options video are changing the way we share video content. The ‘off’ mode gives one the peaceful silence that other platforms lack. The platform is a genuine media, replete with emojis and graphics .it provides its audience with control over what they are sharing. With such positive features, we cannot dismiss this app completely. Those who use it positively gain the most in business. From what we have reviewed above, the snapchat is not completely a bad idea for communication. However, there are some inherent shortcomings in the way it is designed for communication across networks. The users should weigh in on the positive and the negatives and consider whether it works for them or not. Ultimately, one would be a judge on the personal benefits they derive from using
