When it comes to identifying who is old I find myself pushing the age over a little as I age. When I was 21 years old I used to think a 35 year old individual was old however, now in my 40’s I think old is when someone is the age of 65 and inactive. My perspective has changed partly because I have friends that at 65 plus with a very active lifestyle and partly because I’m getting old. Ageism can be considered a social problem because the younger generation has no respect for the seniors. Many elderly will experience physical abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The seniors are considered less value and are treated as children with no rights or authority (Leon-Guerrero, 2014). Society assumes when someone reaches a certain age they should retire
