The second world war (WWII) was one of the most widespread and deadliest wars. This lasted for six years from 1939 to 1945. During this war, Hitler was appointed chancellor of Germany, causing the Holocaust. Because of this, more than fifty million military and civilians died. At the time, Elie Wiesel was fifteen years old when him and his family were forced to leave their home.
After World War II, American society changed dramatically. One change was the GI Bill. This bill provided for veterans after the war. The benefits to this bill was low-cost mortgages, low-interest loans to start a business, cash payments for college, and one year of unemployment compensation. Another change was the population shift.
In America’s past events there are many moments in which were impactful to this country’s history. One of the most impactful eras would have to be World War II and the 1940s. The growth of technology through atomic bombs leaving an impact on America’s view in modern times for future events and political events such as GI Bill of Rights to help veterans with certain programs when they come home from a war that continues to be used today. As well as issues of race and gender were faced with women and African Americans working in which influenced the working environment today. Comparing all the eras that were discussed, the least impactful era was during the 1970s.
WW1 had a huge impact in america. New technology was invented and political and economic changes happen. Manufacturing, production and efficiency has increased. In world war 1 had an impact on every aspect of society. American felt a good sense of nationalism and patriotism during the war.
World War II provoked the start of the Holocaust and the large-scale murder of innocent Jews. The Nazis, led by Adolf Hitler, drove an immense number of families out of their homes, causing them to starve and suffer. Hitler turned countless people against the Jews after blaming them to disguise his failure in losing World War I. Hitler was humiliated and out for vengeance, so he invaded Poland to kick off the start of World War II. Many people disagreed and formed plans to assassinate Hitler, but the Nazis' power was too strong. The Holocaust opened many eyes to the corrupted German society.

During this time 6,000,000 Jews were killed, not by war, but rather at the hands of Germany. Hitler believed that Jews were an inferior race and was a threat to German purity. After years of being mistreated Hitler had a plan called the Final Solution, which was the attempt to extinct the entire Jewish Population. Germany would accomplish this by concentration camps that were set up in Poland.
World War II is said to be the worst conflict in human history. About fifty to eighty million people died all together. There were concentration camps run by the Germans and there were essentially two wars raging. The two wars were the war in Europe and the war in the Pacific, which was Japan against the United States. World War II went on for six years and would destroy more land and property around the world and kill more people than any other war before.

After WWII, society took a drastic change for the better in America. America had just gone through the Great Depression, which was the deepest decline in America’s whole history and everyone was affected. Numerous people lost their jobs and were no longer able to afford basic necessities like a house, food, and water. Many could no longer support their families and had nothing. This was all in result of the market crashing, sending the economy into a downward spiral.
