When looking to the future of increasing voter turnout, many might assume increasing social media presence might be the key. With more and more Americans growing up with and become acclimated to using the internet and social media, it would only make sense to attempt to reach them here. However, some parts of the internet are more useful to reach audiences than others. For instance, search engines seem to contribute to more political knowledge than social media, “Search engines were the only IAT to significantly contribute to political knowledge” (Stephens et al. 391).
