In this modern world, in order to complete tasks and fulfill jobs, most of the population relies on communication and the necessity of electronics to connect with others around the world. Interaction with these electronics has brought to life new implication in the word community, originally thought of as all the people within a geographical region, that has broadened to include countless new societies.
Technology has greatly enlarged mankind's communication abilities by promoting new connections with societies that have little contact with the world otherwise. To illustrate this point, one can reflect upon how ISIS has adopted social media to initiate communication with nations that would otherwise not be influenced. Anyone with any idea

And we clearly are not there yet” (Ernest). This asserts that communication has opened new communities to the world because ISIS has only become a threat due to their use of social media. Without social media, ISIS would not be a threat to the world because they would lack the recruitment and revenue that they have gained through social media. Additionally, they would not have captured the world's attention with videos of beheadings because they would not have a way to let those videos be known to the world. However, some die-hard, contentious people may rebuttal the argument and say that the United States would still be able to communicate with ISIS through original communication methods such as a letter. Although some people may try to argue that the original definitions of the word community are applicable to social media, that is not true because the earlier definitions imply that a community only consists of those whom you talk with face-to-face, whereas the NCBI’s definition applies to both social media and face-to-face communication by implementing the words “social” and “settings”. By examining the etymology of community, it is obvious that over the years the connotation has expanded to include the use of social media in its
