Thesis: In the book The Outsiders, Ponyboy Curtis tells the whole story, however, if the novel was told by several characters such as, Soda, Dally, or Johnny, the book would have been told in a much more desirable manner. Lastly, Johnny was with Ponyboy throughout various parts of the book, which would allow us to hear the complete adventure from a whole nother standpoint. The first example of this was seen when Pony and Johnny had just ran away to the local park.
Like Darry and soda pop are good brothers to pony boy. Soda likes to help a pony boy the most. Darry pays the bills and has a good job. As Pony boy gets in trouble Darry wants him to use his brain too. Even though soda has a job but, he is a dropout and which he works at a gas station.
In the dramatic story “The Outsiders” Ponyboy is always in a dangerous situation, ever since his parents passed away his older brother Darry has been taking care of him and his second older brother Sodapop who is also under Darry’s custody, which proves that he’s not only dealing with one teenager, but with two, and being a young man himself, he has his own problems. Reading the story “The Outsiders,” Ponyboy has always been worried if he would be taken away to a boys home but he doesn't understand that it might be better for him even if he is taken away from Darry, some readers are wondering what is best for him should he stay or should go into a boys home. Ponyboy is better off in a boys home because he will be better taken care of.
In relation to his oldest brother, Darry, Ponyboy has the chance to acquire a bright future. They are both extremely intelligent and athletic, but Darry had to give up his dreams of going to college to support Ponyboy and Sodapop, Ponyboy’s other brother. Sodapop, a high school dropout, also believes that Ponyboy has the potential to be successful in the future. Similar to what Darry would have
Ponyboy is the narrator , main character , protagonist , and youngest in the gang .He lives with his brothers Darry and Sodapop since his parents were killed in a car accident. SodaPop , Ponyboy’s 17 year old brother. He has dropped out of school and works at a local gas station. He is also known as " movie star" handsome. Darry is Ponyboy's older brother and also the legal guardian of Ponyboy and Sodapop.
Sodapop said "I mean I can't take sides. It'd be a lot easier if I could be I see both sides".(pg 150). Sodapop said this because all they do have left is each other because their parents died and they are on their own now. Finally, Ponyboy learns about keeping and appreciating his family especially when johnny died. This taught him that family isn't forever, but you can make it last a long time.
Soda now wants his brothers to stop the fighting, so they can all live happy with each other, and so he doesn’t hear them fighting everyday. What happened to Soda during the time of this book was awful with Ponyboy running away, and Sandy breaking up with him Soda has been through the ringer. Now he can rise past this and change in a positive way, telling his brothers that things have to change and they have to take his feelings into consideration. Telling them that they have to see him and see that he is hurting, and recodnize that. Now that Soda can rise past his brothers and their fighting, he can still be the glue in the relationship

It takes a lot in a person to be the glue that holds the gang together. Ponyboy Curtis from The Outsiders by S.E Hinton is a big asset to the gang he is in, Greasers because he is very intelligent. Ponyboy lives with his two brothers Darrel and Sodapop Curtis after their parents had died in a car crash years before. Ponyboy is very anxious sometimes but he is also very overconfident because he only worries about himself unless there is a reason to worry about his brothers or gang. First, Ponyboy is intelligent.
In his family, although he had a very strong relationship with Soda, often clashed with Darry. Darry was always upset at Ponyboy because he expected so much of him and wanted to protect him because he loved him. In this quote, “‘He's not like Sodapop at all and he sure ain't like me. He’s hard as rock and about as human… He thinks I’m a pain in the neck…
Dally Ponyboy and Johnny are all the main characters in The outsiders and they are all heroes in their own way, being a hero means that you do something to help or save someone else that you may or may not know. In the book The Outsiders By S.E. Hinton The characters have their main ways of being a hero. Johnny is a hero because he ran into the fire to save Ponyboy and random kids he didn't even know. Even when he knew that he was risking his life he still went in and didn't think twice about it.
Darry then decided to step up and “come of age” to try to be a father like figure for Ponyboy. Ponyboy doesn’t seem to think that Darry cares for him because of the way Darry treats Ponyboy so Ponyboy turns to Sodapop more, “Sodapop is different from anybody; he understands everything...almost. Like he 's never hollering at me all the time the way Darry is, treating me like I’m six instead of fourteen,” (#2). This shows that Ponyboy is annoyed of Darry 's strict father-like figure because Darry is always telling Ponyboy what to do instead of being their for him. But Darry’s strict Father-like figure isn 't so bad, it did do some good…..
Ponyboy’s parents died in a car crash leaving his oldest brother Darrel also known as Darry to take care of his two younger brothers. The middle brother Sodapop is always trying to keep Darry and Ponyboy from fighting. Darry has become more of a parent figure in in Ponyboys life causing a lot of tension between the two. Some of the other main characters are Johnny, Two-Bit, Dallas, and Steve. They are all Greasres and are coincided a gang but just think of each other as friends.
Soda is kind and comforts Pony becuase often due to Darry's harsh ness Pony can sometimes feel unloved and left out. Pony and Soda are very close. 4. Why is the 'gang' important to
