There is lots of inequality in this world which resulted in lots of hatred, bigotry, and racism. In order to fight this inequality social movements are formed, movements like Southern Poverty Law Center, the Black Lives Matters movement, etc. Social movements who want to change the world by stopping the inequality we all face on a daily basis especially the inequality caused by law enforcement officers. The inequality issue involving law enforcement has been one of the biggest issues on the news these days; videos have been going viral every time there is another officer involved incident. The organization is also dedicated to improving relations between intergroups and encouraging unbias school experiences. The Southern Poverty Law Center works endlessly towards the ideals of equal opportunities, equal justice and reduce prejudice through education and litigation. In order to accomplish this goal, the Southern Poverty Law Center monitors hate groups and extremist groups; exposing them to the public including the media and law enforcement. The members of the Southern Poverty Law Center are from various ethnic backgrounds whose occupations vary from professors, children advocates, lawyers, juvenile court judges, policy program managers, Department of Children and Family Services employees, CEOs, and veterans. The Southern Poverty Law Center’s adversaries are extremist groups, hate groups and anyone who causes injustices in the world; such as hatred, bigotry, and biases. The principles that founded and fuel the organization, starts with the civil rights movement which started to promise of equal rights for all races around the time Jim Crow ended.
