NASA should focus more on space exploration rather than climate change because there is an array of scientific evidence that proves that climate change is not as prominent of an issue as we are portraying it to be. Many politicians also believe and debate that it is more beneficial to focus on space exploration rather than climate change because we will be wasting money focusing on something that is really of minimal importance.
Overall, the majority of presidential candidates are in favor of focusing more on space exploration rather than climate change. However, there is a stronger support from the republicans. In response to interviewer, Steve Inskeep, on the legitimacy of climate change, Ted Cruz said “ You and I are both old enough to remember 30, 40 years ago, when, at the time, we were being told by liberal politicians and some scientists that the problem was global cooling” (Inskeep 2015). Cruz is completely correct that liberal politicians use to conjure and stress that global cooling was an apparent issue. However, now they are just doing the opposite-saying that the climate is getting warmer. Furthermore, Cruz said that satellites measuring the Earth’s temperatures and weather patterns showed “no significant warming whatsoever” (Inskeep 2015).

Even President Obama “proposed increases to the NASA budget of a half billion dollars, totaling $18.5 billion for the 2016 fiscal year.” (McClellan and West 2015). Moreover, presidential candidate Donald Trump tweeted that “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.” (Trump 2016). This shows that we should be focusing on something like space exploration, which we absolutely know is
