The United States spends about 9 billion dollars in space research. One space shuttle can cost 1.7 billion dollars. When a space vehicle used, it belongs to the Smithsonian Institution. Space shuttles can't fly to the moon. George Bush wanted people to go to the moon again by 2020, and even Mars by 2030, but Barack Obama cancelled the program. There are many types of space exploration vehicles, and even vehicles that are made to go on other planets. The United States should continue to fund space research and exploration. If people continue to explore space and bad things happen, people might be able to learn from their mistakes and even find new things. Dark They Were and Golden Eyed supports this reason. In the story, a family left Earth to go to Mars, and ended up turning into Martians. If people explored Mars beforehand and sent the information to Earth, they might not have went to Mars to live. Things like this have also happened in different fields, such as medicine. In the past, there have been cases where medicines have been released, but the longterm effects of the medicines ended up hurting some people. The article, “Yes, Aliens (probably) Exist” says that There actually is a planet that could support life. Keplar, a satellite that travels in deep space, found a planet called Keplar452b. Scientists say that Keplar452b can sustain life. Scientists also know that there are certain conditions in order for a planet to have life. A planet can’t be too far or too close to it’s sun, so it has to be in whats called a “goldielocks zone.” If we keep looking for different planets, then maybe if we overpopulate or pollute air too much, humans can live on another planet.
