Rodrigo Diaz Nasa’s Funding 2/16/17

The U.S. government wants to increase the space program’s budget. The National Aeronautic Space Administration AKA “NASA” budget for 2017 is $18.5 billion, In 2016, 19.3 billion dollars were spent on NASA. The United States government funds NASA using federal revenue from income, corporate and other taxes. NASA will use the funds for space exploration, bringing space technology to business, and education. NASA will spend $3.3 billion for further develop the Space Launch System, a heavy-lift rocket. It will one carry astronauts to the moon, Mars, and even asteroids.
A report by the Space Foundation estimated that the space-related activities contributed $180 billion to the economy in 2005. More …show more content…

On this Journey to Mars, NASA is developing the most advanced rocket and spacecraft ever designed. NASA's Orion spacecraft will carry four astronauts to missions beyond the moon, launched from Florida aboard the Space Launch System “SLS” an advanced heavy-lift rocket that will provide an entirely new national capability for human exploration beyond Earth's orbit.
The report states that development of SLS through its first flight in 2017, the ground systems for that effort, and the first two Orion flights in 2017 and 2021 are estimated by NASA to cost between $19-22 billion as follows: SLS, $7.7-8.6 billion; ground systems, $2.8-3.1 billion; and Orion, $8.5-10.3 billion.
NASA's 2011 budget (tried finding the budget for 2016, no results) of $18.4 billion represented about 0.5% of the $3.4 trillion United States federal budget during that year, or about 35% of total spending on academic scientific research in the United States. If NASA’s budget increased, we could discover more planets. Earth isn’t going to last us forever. We should invest in discovering and studying new planets and galaxies so the human race can strive and prosper forever, even if that means not living on Earth
