The Standard American Diet is a pattern of over indulgence and binge eating. A norm of society is the quick fix, or convenience of access for the busy lifestyle, making fast food restaurants a staple of our modern society and in many other modernized countries. With commercialization pushing this type of acceptable eating practices, newer generations succumb to a poor dieting practice consisting of high caloric intake and an influx of saturated fats and cholesterol. Looking back to older generations when homes were home cooked and eaten as a family, meals were more balanced and usually balanced in portions. As technology progresses the reasons for venturing into the outside world are fading, because people can communicate personally and professionally from home. Outside of manual labor to keep the essentials for life and the production of technological appeasements, everything can be done from the safety of our home. With that comfort in mind add delivery food to the equation, and healthy diets are out of place for most. According to the Center for Disease Control, the Percent of adults age 20 years and over who are overweight, including obesity: 69.0% (2011-2012) (Obesity and Overweight, 2015). Being overweight or obese is linked with an increased risk of cancers of the breast, colon, esophagus, kidney ct, and certain types of diabetes (Obesity and Overweight, 2015). A major venture that should become the forefront of every televised program and political issue is developing healthier natural dieting and exercise life habits in everyone avoiding excessive weight gain. Fact is a healthy weight and body is important not only to reduce cancer risk and diabetes, but it will also help deter the risk of other chronic diseases.
