Did you know that educational test are much less accurate than what most people think? All over the USA, students are responsible for taking standardized test through their years of learning. Standardized tests are not a good method of finding out how well they are going to perform because students do not effectually show the improvements throughout the years and, also those tests do not measure what really is important for your future.
To begin with, there have been studies that results in how the USA ranked in math worldwide using standardized test. From being 18th in 2002 to being placed 39th in 2009, it is quite a drop, but it was not the only subject the nation ranked low on including science, reading, and other major subjects in school (Shanghai). These tests were designed to show accountability of the information a student learns, but they have placed the nation in a lower rank than before. Bracey, a late education researcher, says that standardized tests do not measure the valuable characteristics like "creativity, critical thinking , resilience, motivation, persistence, curiosity, endurance, reliability, enthusiasm, empathy, self-awareness, self- discipline, leadership, civic-mindedness, compassion, resourcefulness, sense of beauty, sense of wonder, honesty, integrity"(Strauss).
