Waking up in the morning and going to school knowing that there is a big test that day doesn’t feel good, a student can feel nervous or just simply not ready to do it. In the beginning of a student's schooling years they don’t really see much of a problem with standardized tests as long as they do their best and stay quiet until everyone is done. But, standardized tests get worse the older you get, they aren’t fair for everybody, they take to long and they stress people out.
First of all, standardized testing doesn’t measure a student's intelligence at all. Although, they can measure the amount of answers that students memorize. “Standardized achievement tests will always contain many items that are not aligned with what’s emphasized instructionally in a particular setting.” In addition to this, one article explains that the questions on the test are answered correctly by only half the students. “The proportion of topics presented on a standardized test that received more than cursory treatment in each textbook was never higher than 50 percent.” Secondly, there are different types of intelligences. “Recent thinking among many …show more content…

“A student takes 112 mandated standardized tests between pre-k to 12 grade.” Secondly, one article states that teachers are evaluated by how their students do on the test. “...the state may now fire teachers if tests scores are low.” Furthermore, study time takes time out of activities. “This is why parents are refusing-- they want school to be a place where children’s talents are being cultivated and not harmed by tests”(Tampio). Overall, these tests are taking so much time out of students and teachers schedules, they want to be the best they can be in class but also do other things that won't stress them out. This just proves a point that even some parents don’t support this kind of
