When reading chapter 1, I found out what theatre is and how Stanislavshi express his passion for theatre. By reading this, I have a different view about the theatre and acting. As he talks about his passion for theatre, he makes people want to know about theatre and become actor/actress themselves. It was interesting to read chapter 1 as it discussed Stanislavski and his system. He believes that theatre should develop people’s taste and raise the level of their cultural. Stanislavski expresses that actors and actress love being on stage because theatre gives them the atmosphere of art. I found this chapter interesting as Stanislavski suggest that beginning of the play begins with the determination of the events which I never knew that when it comes to acting. It is important to understand the most important events. Important events are in the root of the play and move the action of the play along with the characters. Stanislavski taught the process of breaking up the play into different episodes, analyzing and discovering the action by having the director and actors sit in a table. This gives rehearsals and last for a long time. He realized that it was a mistake and starts to rehearsals after he explained the main idea. Before I read this chapter, I thought actors just act to their characters as the way that the character act. After reading this, I learn that it was more than that to building a character. It was interesting to read about building a character. Stanislavski points out that it is important for an actor to see the character that he build in terms of action which is guided by the main idea of the play and the role. When an actor plays a role, the role will be ready when an actor knows what the character does each moment and why he does it. When it come taking a role of a character, an actor must understand the attitude of the character. If an actor wants to improvise, an actor must understand first why did the playwright give the line to the character. A character has a purpose to say certain lines in order for the audience to understand the character. Stanislavski states that an actor must understand the main idea of the play and the playwright so that he and the director can feel and see the character on future performance.
