Wednesday Wars Respond to Literature Essay Have you ever read the book “The Wednesday Wars”, by Gary D. Schmidt? In “The Wednesday Wars”, the main character, Holling Hoodhood, seems to form opinions about people pretty quickly, especially Mrs.Baker, Holling’s new 7th teacher. This leads you to having the same opinion about certain characters in the book. However, you should never judge people based on first impressions. The world contains many people, you never do know who they really are and what they are capable of until you them.
Have you ever thought of what life would be like without guidance? In the book, The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor, Alyss is forced into this situation. This all stems from her aunt’s hunger for power as this is why her parents, the king and queen, are killed by Alyss’ aunt and why their heir, Alyss, is on the run. Led by her chief bodyguard, Hatter, she is thrown into a strange universe, but as they are transported through the pool, Hatter and Alyss are separated. The challenges that Alyss faces in The Looking Glass Wars are that nobody is there to guide her, her malicious aunt wants to kill her, and she is told she failed the maze.
In Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, the character Jack has characteristics of The ID. The ID is the part of the mind in which instinctive impulses and primary processes are manifest. Jack, displays this in chapter four when he is dancing in war paint for a religious ceremony. The author describes this event, stating, “[Jack] began to dance and his laughter became a bloodthirsty snarling”(64) Jack displays his natural instincts in this part of the story.
Tragically, I think Connie is separated from her family toward the end of Oates' story. She is power to run with Arnold Friend and Ellie far away in the Country. She comes to ensure her family. Arnold Friend may sexually abuse her. I trust this due to the accompanying quote, "We'll go out to a pleasant field, out in the nation here where the aroma is so pleasant and it's sunny," Arnold-Friend said.

These feelings and emotions occur in “The Wednesday Wars,” by Gary D. Schmidt. Making your own decisions is essential to growing up and becoming self-reliant.
The great Richard Bach once said “Your conscience is the measure of the honesty of your selfishness. Listen to it carefully.” Often people overlook the fact that their conscience is telling them that they are selfish, but it is up to them to fix it. In his novel, The Wednesday wars, Gary Schmidt highlights the dangers of being selfish and self-centered through the changes of Holling Hoodhood.
A quote that stands out to me from the film “Dirty Wars” is “Kill its way to victory.” I found that this quote really captures the overall theme of the movie. The U.S. goes to ruthless extremes to get what they need, no matter who or what they have to annihilate. These orders are given directly from the White House and passed through American troops and an elite military unit, the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC.) JSOC are not only given orders, but also a hit list issued by President Barack Obama of people to kill.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be living your life in fear? Constantly being wanted, and living on the run and in fear only because you are a divergent? I have read the chapters 1-27 in the book Insurgent, in the beginning Tris and Tobias were on their way away from the city and away from the erudite, who were taking control. After they find out that the erudite are searching for them, they decide to take a train back to the center of the city and stay in the warehouse with a bunch of other divergent.
Can you fall in love with a fallen star? Loving someone means to care for them and to be brave for them. In Stardust by Neil Gaiman, Tristran shows that he cares for the star at various times throughout the story. In the novel love makes Tristran act more brave than he usually would, this is demonstrated through his love for Victoria, relationship with Yvaine, and his decisions near the end of his life.
A breeze picks up as Santiago asks the wind for help. The wind argues that Santiago differs too much from it but Santiago contends that he desires to reach all corners of the world just like the wind. The wind understands but doesn’t know what to do. Santiago tells the wind that love can empower it to do anything. The wind feels like Santiago demeans what it already knows how to do.

Jack London quit school when he was 14 and traveled for several years.

In the book The Mysterious Benedict Society, by Trenton Lee Stewart, the main protagonist, Reynie, doubts himself throughout the book. The book is about 4 children. Reynie Muldoon, the cleverest and bravest, Sticky Washington, the smartest, Kate Wetherall, the most adventurous, and Constance Contraire, the stubbornest. These children pass tests that are strange and nearly impossible.
ISU Essay In the Short story, Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King is about a man that Is wrongfully convicted of murder, gets sentenced to prison then has to face problems in prison. The Shawshank prison is a corrupt prison with underhanded actions from the guards and inmates. Andy Dufresne, the wrongfully convicted man, never gave up on himself and he always had hope that some of the problems that he is facing will stop. The sisters, a group of thirsty men that rape other inmates to fill their sexual needs.

All that we do, we are bound to encounter stress. Stress can be defined as a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. Whenever one is facing difficulty ,suffering anxiety, or feeling worried,stress will immediately take over. Stress has been, and will remain to be, a natural part of our daily routine. This causes many to underestimate its overall effects.
