“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” That is a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson that outlines the same principles that Four County Community Foundation also believe in. Four County is committed to serving the needs of their local community. I believe in those same principles for various reasons. Some of those reasons include being a hard worker, the money would be put to good use furthering my education, and I give back to the community a bunch. First off, I am a very hard worker. While there I plan to major in Nursing with the hopes to become a labor and delivery nurse in a hospital setting. Due to the fast paced, strict guidelines of the nursing major, getting a minor will not be possible. To be a nurse, one should have a Bachelor’s degree of Science in nursing or BSN. Although, some companies will hire you if you are just an RN (Registered Nurse) or you obtain an Associate’s degree in Nursing. A couple people influenced me to become a nurse. Those two people are my “boss” Teresa and my nephew, Alex. Through numerous conversations with Teresa, I figured out that nursing would be a good career for me. We both love to help people and blood does not freak either of us out. One should aspire to be like Teresa because she is an amazing wife, mother, and nurse. My nephew furthered my interest into nursing. After that, I heard all of the positive things that my parents, my brother, and my sister-in-law had to say about her nurses in the hospital. Hearing the stories and through the conversations, it made me think that I was born to do this. By becoming a nurse, I would be able to give back to the community even
