Statewide testing should be banned
Statewide tests in education are controversial. While some argue that they provide valuable information, I believe they should be banned due to their negative impact on students, teachers, and the education system. The state government overwhelms their students with weeks upon weeks of state tests. The students affected by this testing tend to get a poor score because of their stress and they tend to start to get stressed about everything in their life.
Statewide testing is unfair to select students. Statewide tests do not count for how every student learns and is able to understand how the problem is worded. People who have disabilities or are foreign to the country they’re taking the test in could have trouble understanding the question. The test cannot accurately measure the students' knowledge. When the test comes close teachers tend to prioritize the test rather than prioritizing other subjects that most students aren’t doing so well in. So the reason why I had chosen this argument point is because I believe that this could have a negative effect on students. I also believe that the standardized test leads to a narrow curriculum as teachers prioritize test preparation over developing critical thinking and creativity. In conclusion, statewide tests may not be an accurate reflection of students' achievement and can be unfair to the certain groups of students taking the test.

Statewide testing can put an enormous amount of pressure on teachers to ensure their students do well and are successful in the future. This pressure can lead to a focus on test preparation, rather than meaningful learning experiences that the students need. Additionally, teachers may feel pressured to “teach the test” which can lead to the narrowing of the curriculum the students are on and lose their track of
