From the beginning of Stevie Nicks’s illustrious career to the present day, she has truly been a prime example of the American rock and roll dream of the 1960s and ‘70s. From her music to her fashion sense, she was a force to be reckoned with in the rock scene of that age. Even through life’s struggles, she has said on numerous occasions, “Crystal visions really do come true,” and throughout her career, she was the one to ensure her dreams came to fruition (Davis & Nicks).

In the early years of her career, Stevie “dropped the look of jeans and began to be styled by Holly Harp[er], who created a stage persona for Nicks based on a Celtic myth” (Burns). After the release of Tusk, Fleetwood Mac began its biggest tour yet, one year of one hundred shows between October 1979 and January 1981. “Stevie and her [new] wardrobe designer, Margi Kent, decided that the Welsh witch’s black chiffon look and shag-cut hair was now passé” (Davis). Also according to Davis, her new stage look included loose and colorful fabrics. The gauzy capes of the past gave way to cropped jackets and corset-laced vests, and the iconic top hats were replaced with feathered berets. Different shawls would be worn to evoke different song themes and emotions.
