Furthermore, NewYork- Presbyterian is yet to establish is itself as major specialty hospital unlike its competitors such as hospital of special surgery and Henry J. Carter Specialty Hospital & Nursing Facility. Competitors such as the Hospital of Special Surgery provide specialty care that emphasize on sports medicine and orthopedic care. Another competitor of the New York Presbyterian system is the Henry J. Carter Specialty Hospital & Nursing facility that specializes in providing skilled nursing services and long-term acute care to its patients. As a result of these competitors, potential customers that require any of these specialty care will prefer New York Presbyterian competitors. Through its weaknesses, New York-Presbyterian healthcare system become threatened by its weakness. A gift of $75 million in late January from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation to establish a new hospital for pre- and post-natal care. This new facility named The Alexandra & Steven Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns will be housed in the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell campus and will open to patients in 2020. The addition of this new facility will open another revenue stream for the NewYork-Presbyterian healthcare system. Furthermore, the Alexandra & Steven Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns will enable the healthcare system to penetrate the maternal health care market share.
