After graduation I plan to attend law school. All of my strengths will play a role in helping me reach this goal. Admittance into law school is highly competitive so I have been working to build up my resume and transcript so that I stand out from other applicants as a more suitable choice. Another key aspect of the application is the personal statement. I’ve been very critical of mine by comparing it to other essays that gained admittance to the school and to past essays I’ve written. Reliability is essential as clients are counting on you to do the necessary work and show up to all meetings and court appearances. I will demonstrate reliability by being present and prepared for all meetings and trial dates so that my clients feel confident in choosing me. To me, openness is all about communication, how clearly and honestly you represent yourself. In order to demonstrate this I will make sure to communicate all of the facts to my clients that are in their best interest to know and be sure to let them know if problems to arise that could affect the outcome of my work. Competence is one of the most important indicators of trust because if you are unable to perform a task to the level that is expected of you than people won’t think of you for future needs. I plan to demonstrate competence in my career by continuing to read up on recent cases and laws so that I am aware of the current legal situation and do ample research if I am ever put on a case that I don’t know all of the information about. Compassion is built through communication and time spent with those you’re attempting to build trust with. Compassion is working selflessly to meet another person’s needs, which is the basis for most of what a lawyer does in advocating and representing a client. To show compassion in my work I will ensure I understand what exactly my clients are hoping to gain from our efforts and what their ideal outcome is so that I can do what is needed to meet those goals or help them adjust their goals if I know up front they won’t be
