My name is Cindy, I am a student attending University of Michigan, born in Grand Rapids, Mi. I am writing this letter due to seeing a problem in the economy regarding employment. Ever since I was little I would see the difficulties my friends had economically due to having parents working within the Minimum wage. As of now, many families are out looking for better jobs to help them with satisfying the needs in the family. Yet, many of the families, due to not enough education, are unable to get better jobs. Some families live without eating for certain days or don’t have appropriate clothing depending on the weather. This causes many of them to not pay attention to their education and only look forward to the paycheck coming in. Many of those students work due to having insufficient money at home. An example of this would be my friend who would get home late after work and would stay up until 3 a.m to finish her homework. As a result of this she was late to class every morning due to not getting enough sleep and also her and many students in situations her’s were faced with low grades. I don’t wish to impose on the amount of work a student should receive from school. However, I do want to talk about the changes in Minimum wage. I wish to see a change in the system regarding the amount an adult may receive as well as a student. I believe that a student should still receive the minimum wage, However, as for the adult that is different. If they are a big family I support them in earning higher wages, they will have a more stable condition. An example could be a family of 5, the parents will receive at least $15/Hr . That way the student/children don’t have to worry about having insufficient money, they will have the desire to complete their education instead of looking for a part-time job that may conflict with their
