Students of color at DU bring several talents and skills to the community, from the classroom to the overall campus. DU is home of many international students, which students promote enrichment in the classroom setting as they can challenge the western perspective of content and the systems in place. These students can use their voices to promote critical thinking and promote cultural humidity. Since there is a lack of students of color on campus, it is easier for them to be motivated to get involved in student organizations and find additional resources to create a sense of community in the area.
DU aims to have networks dedicated for students of color to help support their educational and career goals. Within the university, the Center for Multicultural Excellence serves both graduate and undergraduate students. Within this group, there are programs aimed to bring the community together and promote a sense of belonging on campus. Some examples of networks are: Sistah Network, for African American women, and Latino graduate Association (University of Denver, 2018). There are also independent organizations created and led by students, such as Hermanas Latinas for graduate Latina women and Shades of Brown Alliance within the school of social work. Students

This is a space where individuals can know more about this community and its assets to the overall community. Within the resident halls, the Housing and Residential Education promotes inclusive excellence for students of color. These buildings and their management promote “We’re a Culture, not a Costume” campaign to combat racial and ethnic stereotypes (Denver, 2018). They provide passive and active programming on why cultural appropriation is unacceptable on
