Do you think that students test too much? Students in the U.S. take 112 standardized test from Pre-K through 12th grade. 112 tests are a lot of test when other countries only take 3 test. We need to modify the standardized testing. This essay will persuade the reader that we need to modify test because 1.we take too many, 2. it takes away learning time, and 3. there is a lot of pressure and stress.
First, in this paragraph I will talk about how we take too many test. We test for 20-25 hours a year. That does not include regular day to day test and preparing for the test. Parents Opt their kid out of the test because of the stress. That means that the parents can see how stress out their kid is so they take them out. Teachers get scored based on how the students do. That means that they feel pressured to teach them everything on the test. That is some evidence to show that there is stress and pressure. Next, in this paragraph I will talk about how some people think that the test are fine. The test helps teachers, parents, and students see what the student knows. You don’t get the test back till after 2- 4 months. When you get the test back you can’t reteach because they will be in a different grade. The test does help see what students know but you don’t get the test back till after 2- 4 months. This essay has persuaded the reader that we need to modify test because we take too many, it takes away learning time, and there is a lot of pressure and stress. Students take 112 test from Pre-k through 12 and 2.3% of class time is spent testing. 7th graders test 20-25 hours a year. The test takes away learning time.
